Terms of use
Last updated 19 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Fork when you use the Fork app or this website. By creating an account or using Fork, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Fork.
Fork is currently run by an independent developer and is not yet a registered company. “Fork”, “we” and “us” mean that developer, or a company that takes Fork over.
Your account
- You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live requires it.
- Give accurate information, and keep your Apple, Google or email account secure: you are responsible for what happens on your Fork account.
- One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone or pretend to be a restaurant you do not represent.
Content rules
Fork has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not post, comment or share anything that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or targets anyone, including restaurant staff;
- is hateful or discriminatory, or promotes violence;
- is sexual, pornographic, or involves minors in any inappropriate way;
- is violent, graphic or shocking;
- is spam, advertising you have not disclosed, or a scam;
- is fake: reviews of places you did not visit, reviews a restaurant or anyone else paid or rewarded you for that you do not disclose, or reviews of your own business or a competitor;
- uses a receipt that is not yours, or one that has been edited;
- shares someone else’s private information;
- infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights; or
- breaks the law.
Reporting, blocking and removal
You can report any post, comment or account, and block any account, from inside the app. We review reports and act on them within 24 hours. We may remove content and suspend or permanently ban accounts that break these terms, without notice, and we may remove anything that we reasonably believe puts people at risk. Receipt verification and points may be withdrawn if they were earned unfairly.
Your content
You own what you post. By posting it, you give Fork a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce and distribute it in order to run, promote and improve Fork. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where it has already been shared by others or we must keep it for legal reasons. Only post photos and videos you took or have the right to share.
Reviews, points and restaurant information
- Reviews are the personal opinions of the people who write them, not Fork’s.
- A verified badge means a receipt was checked for that visit. It is proof of a visit, not an endorsement, and we do not guarantee any review is accurate.
- Fork awards points for posting reviews. How many you get never depends on the rating you give, so a low rating earns the same as a high one. Sharing a review earns no points. Fork’s own points are not a paid or incentivised review under the rules above.
- Points, tiers and badges have no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred. We may change how they work.
- Restaurant details come from open datasets and Google and may be out of date. Google ratings and reviews are Google’s content. See Open data.
Things you must not do
- Scrape, copy or bulk-download Fork’s data, or use bots or automated accounts.
- Try to break, overload or get around Fork’s security, limits or moderation.
- Use Fork to build a competing product or dataset.
Privacy
How we handle your information is explained in our privacy policy.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (You → Delete account). We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue after an account ends, such as the limits on liability, still apply.
Changes to Fork and these terms
Fork is new and will change. We may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a significant way, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Fork after that means you accept the new terms.
No warranty and limits on liability
Fork is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for content posted by other people, or for your experience at any restaurant. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Apple
If you downloaded Fork from the App Store, these terms are between you and Fork, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Fork or its content, has no obligation to provide support for it, and is a third-party beneficiary of these terms with the right to enforce them against you. Apple’s standard App Store terms also apply.
